The sari is a beautiful garment worn in Nepal, a drape of silk varying from 4 to 9 metres! After many wears, the bottom section of the silk that falls close to the ground is damaged, leaving an enormous amount of silk to re-purpose into these stunning scarves!
The unspoiled silk is cut into strips and welt felted with pure merino wool over the top. The felting is done lightly and with utmost care and skill to reveal the beauty of the sari silk beneath.
The result is a soft, light, warm scarf ~ a one-of-a-kind piece of wearable art!
Whilst care has been taken to photograph each scarf to display it's true colour, variations in tone between image and scarf may occur.
Each scarf measures approx 170cmL x 30cmW
Handcrafted by skilled, aspiring women artisans in Kathmandu, Nepal.
